Lately I’ve been asked a few times by students, how I train with my teacher if I only see him maybe once a year. The answer for me is very simple – I keep training the things I learn the one time I see him until we meet again. I give my best to follow the path he’s taken and try to transmit the same feeling I have, when I train with him. It’s like in the old days, you get something, go train and come back to get your next lesson.

It’s the same as travelling to Japan. You travel there once a year and practice the teachings you get there until next time.

But of course, everyone is different. For me a teacher is not someone who takes you by your hand and shows you every answer, but the one encouraging you to find the answers by yourself and to keep going. I could write an whole essay on this topic but I’ll leave that for another time.

I’m also lucky that I have three other wonderful teachers Sveneric, Cavin and Oliver here in europe supporting my training. Shortly said I found my right path. At least it feels right for me.

Bujinkan is a great community and we should cherish the gift given to us by soke and try not to build up borders within it.
